The pressure is increasing – Mechanical engineering needs digital solutions

The printing industry is facing major challenges: High demands on the sustainability of materials and the flexibility of machines as well as enormous cost pressure. Digitisation provides a remedy here. At Labelexpo (Stand 7E53), automation specialist Lenze will therefore be presenting not only hardware and software, but above all its digital services and platform offerings.

“Digitisation in and around the machine continues to increase – flexible software solutions, close to the automation, are therefore necessary,” explains Marian Köller, Global Segment Manager Converting & Printing at Lenze. The open automation platform Nupano is just one example: it forms the bridge between the OT and IT worlds and enables machine builders to bring applications (apps) into their machines – without any IT know-how of their own. Köller adds: “Nupano is a key technology that makes it easy to leverage the potential of digitalisation at machine and plant level. Our customers can use it to offer digital products that increase the efficiency and sustainability of their presses and generate recurring revenue.”

Competitive advantages through digital solutions

Lenze can come up with many other concrete digital offers and will show innovative solutions, e.g. for condition monitoring, for which no extra sensors are needed. The data comes directly from the drive. Lenze also uses AI for machine optimisation and offers an Asset Performance Platform that creates transparency about the installed components and ensures improved machine availability. The portal is linked directly to the OEM’s machines. If a fault occurs, the machine can automatically create a ticket so that the service 2023-08 Press Information Lenze on Labelexpo – The pressure is increasing – Mechanical engineering needs digital solutions • 05.08.2023 • Seite 2 von 3

technicians are informed at an early stage. “In this way, downtimes can be avoided, throughput times optimised and the OEE of the machines increased,” says Köller, summing up the benefits.
